SAFETY ALERTS & INFORMATION
Recently in Norway there was an incident with an ActSafe ACCII power ascender. Actsafe are therefore recommending that all ACC ascenders, which currently do not have a Velcro strap, have one added onto the rope cover during the next service. The Velcro strap that you can see on the picture is standard on the current ACCII model.
ActSafe wants to share the outcome of recent investigations in rope damaging incidents. We want to heighten the users awareness that poor use can potentially lead to rope damages when using ActSafe ascenders. Poor use can be subdivided into 3 main categories: poor maintenance, poor handling and poor ropes.
ActSafe has produced a battery information folder that focuses on safe battery use and handling. This information folder will be sent out with all new ascenders and batteries as well as all ascenders and batteries that undergo annual inspection.
An ACC built in 2008 (first generation) was in April 2013 involved in an accident in Australia . The ascender had not undergone annual inspection nor been upgraded due to our instructions -it was equipped with a superseded rope cover.
